Are you ready to stop playing yourself and get motivated to achieve your goals? Setting goals is an essential part of achieving success, but if you don’t have the motivation to follow through, all the goal setting in the world won’t do you any good. That’s why it’s so important to understand how to stop getting in your own way and to stay motivated in order to achieve your goals. In this blog post, we’ll discuss the best strategies for getting out of your own way and keeping yourself motivated to reach your goals.
What’s Holding You Back?
Life gets in the way, I get it. Between everyday responsibilities, kids, bills, our significant others, many times, what we want tend to get on the back burner. Trust me, I know… We as women have the “super power” to, well, forget about ourselves and put others first.
We will write to do lists, goal lists, an buy all the planners in the world, but what happens?? They sit there and collect dust. We make excuse after excuse of why we can’t do something or why now isn’t the right time. Newsflash! The only thing that’s holding you back is yourself. It’s time for you to stop making excuses and start taking action! Set aside a certain amount of time every day that is solely dedicated to working towards achieving your goals. No distractions, no other commitments – just you and your dreams. Make sure that this time is realistic for you; if you don’t think that you can commit two hours a day towards your goals, then start with an hour or 30 minutes a day – whatever works for you! Don’t overcommit yourself and then feel overwhelmed. Just start small and gradually work your way up. Track your progress and reward yourself for any successes that you make along the way – no matter how small!
Change Your Mindset
It starts with one single thought. A positive word, an affirmation, or a quote. Think of something positive that will motivate you. For example, if your goal is to finish school, create a mantra such as “I have the power to achieve my goals”. Write it down on sticky notes or post it on your wall as a reminder when you find yourself wavering. Remember that it’s ok to feel discouraged but don’t allow yourself to be overwhelmed by negative thoughts. Talk to yourself like you would talk to your best friend, be supportive and keep pushing yourself forward.

Set Realistic Goals
Now here is the kicker, it’s time to set goals FOR REAL, but let’s make them realistic. Now I’m not saying don’t challenge yourself, but what I am saying is, let’s not say ” I want to make 1 million dollars by the end of the week” and have no clue or plan on how? Because that sets you up for failure right off the bat and it can be so disheartening if you allow it. Set a goal that makes you push yourself a bit but also something you know you can achieve.
Once you set a goal then comes action items. Make a list of things you need to do to reach your goal and make sure they are actionable items. Meaning, something you can actually do to get closer to your goal. Don’t just keep talking about what you need to do, DO IT! No excuses!!
Take ownership of your goal and your results! Have accountability partners; this means someone who can help hold you accountable for reaching your goal as well as give you sound advice if needed. Last but not least, be flexible with your timeline; life happens and can be unpredictable at times so take a breath and reassess if need be. You got this!

Get Organized
Oraganization makes a BIG DIFFERENCE!! If your thoughts are all over the place, your mind is cluttered. Nothing gets done because you have no clue where to begin…this is when overwhelm sets in. You don’t want that to happen!

Take Action
You’ve written the goals, you’ve taken the time to get organized now what? It’s important that your actions reflect your words. If you say that you want to achieve something then you must be willing to put in the work. Show up and be present with yourself. Put yourself out there and take small steps towards your goal each day. Think of it as taking one step forward and two steps back.
Celebrate every milestone no matter how small. This will help keep you motivated and give you a sense of accomplishment. It’s also important to recognize where you have been in order to track your progress. Taking these steps can help combat the fear of failure, imposter syndrome, and any doubts that may arise. Lastly, remember to stay focused on why it is that you are doing this – for yourself. By staying true to who you are, your values and your vision for yourself, no one will ever be able to stop you from achieving your goals.
Persevere
The closer you get to your goal, the farther it feels away…have you experienced that feeling? It feels as if you keep pushing, keep going, keep trying, but you can’t help but think to yourself…”when am I going to make it??”, ” When will I reach my goal?” Remembering that success is all about the journey, not necessarily reaching a destination is important. Learn how to enjoy each small victory along the way. Celebrate your successes by rewarding yourself with small treats or maybe even a nice dinner.
Remind yourself why you started this journey. Write down a list of all of the reasons why achieving this goal is important to you and hang it up somewhere where you’ll see it every day. Finally, do something everyday that will bring you one step closer to achieving your goals. Even the smallest of actions add up over time and are a great way to stay motivated. With hard work and dedication, anything is possible!

Reward Yourself
One thing to remember… REWARD YOURSELF ALWAYS!! Rewards do not have to be expensive; it could be something as simple as taking yourself out for coffee, taking a bubble bath, or watching a movie. Rewards keep you motivated, help you stay focused, and remind you of your progress. Whether it’s checking something off your list, reaching a goal, or simply just showing up, reward yourself. Also, don’t forget to celebrate the small wins. (notice I KEEP SAYING THIS right?) It is easy to focus on the long-term goals and forget about the small steps it takes to get there. Taking time out of your day to celebrate the small wins will give you momentum and keep you motivated. Remember, no matter how big or small, reward yourself!
You got this Sis!! Each day is another day YOU GET to make something happen…
